Re: Why can't everyone just be considerate?
Believe me, I understand your frustration. Here are a few
statistics I pulled by browsing the Adult FriendFinder membership for
the US today:
Men seeking Women 4102459
Women seeking Men 402031
Now assuming that there are few people with multiple profiles
and few porn site spammers (an assumption we know is wrong,
but Adult FriendFinder is trying to eliminate the spammer problem), that
still leaves more than 10 times as many men seeking women.
Now, as have been posted by several women in here, there
are women that make every effort to keep up and reply, but
their are a lot of women that get frustrated at not only getting
tons of emails, but not every guy even tries to read the information
they have already provided. As frustrations mount, people
tend to identify the whole group with the offending few
and also tend to be more strict about compliance to their
ads requests.
The best way I can put this is every time you write to someone
you are asking them to take a chance on you, even if it is just
for chat/e-mail. This is not like you have been set up by
friends. No one owes anyone a response in my opinion. They
are not commenting on you as a person in any way. The world
is filled with *wonderful* people who just don't happen
to be the *right* person.
Also, the practice of giving out an e-mail address on first
contact is not a very good one.
That practice is what keeps
the spammer going on here. It is better to get a Yahoo ID,
create a secondary profile (this profile can be used for
IM, but has no e-mail box), and give them the secondary profile
to use with IM. That way, they can contact you if they choose
*and* if they are a spammer the ID is not a valid e-mail address,
so they gain nothing.
